Barbecue (Ice Cream Social)

A Midwestern church-cookbook sloppy joe — tangy tomato soup, ketchup, onion, celery, and a splash of Worcestershire.

Ingredients

Steps

  1. Brown the hamburger with the chopped onion in a skillet over medium heat, breaking up the meat as it cooks. Drain off any excess fat.
  2. Add all the remaining ingredients: tomato soup, ketchup, sugar, salt, mustard, pepper, celery, vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir to combine.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, until everything is heated through and the celery has softened slightly, about 5 to 10 minutes.
  4. Serve on hamburger buns.
