LaBonte Chili

A no-fuss family chili with two kinds of kidney beans and a kick from Lipton onion soup mix.

  1. Brown the ground beef in a large pot over medium-high heat, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks. Drain the fat.
  2. Add the celery and onion to the pot. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes until slightly softened.
  3. Stir in the tomato juice, stewed or crushed tomatoes, light kidney beans, and dark kidney beans.
  4. Add the Lipton onion soup mix, chili seasoning, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
  5. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Simmer until the vegetables are tender, about 30 to 40 minutes. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
